We have been fortunate enough to get to know Steve Yerex on two occasions.
The first simply a guiding experience when he was instrumental in initiating two of my four sons into the wonderful world of fishing for trout on the fly. Their success on that day has made them fly fishers for life and no small part of the credit for this must go to Steve for his patient understanding and assistance.
The second occasion was when my wife and whole family of four boys stayed at Kereru lodge for 4 days. The peace, tranquility and quiet of the place was remarkable and thoroughly relaxing. The 50 meters to the Tauranga Taupo River made even short trips for fishing no problem. The location is superb and indeed on one day the boys landed eleven fish none of them more than a few hundred metres from the Lodge. The location is amongst a grove of Kohwais with abundant native bird life and many sightings of the Kereru. The facilities of the lodge made for a most comfortable and relaxing stay away from the whiles of the world.
We will be back again soon and can heartily recommend Kereru Lodge to all for a love of the outdoors and even for those not attracted to its proximity to spectacular fishing.
